Qualified horticulturist, North Shore local, and the person who looks after your garden every visit.
I'm Robert Navarro, the horticulturist behind RF Horticulture. I completed a Certificate III in Horticulture at Ryde TAFE in 2019. I've also spent six years working in public horticulture at a major Sydney botanic garden.
RF Horticulture is my own independent business. I look after North Shore gardens from Mosman to Wahroonga: precision pruning of camellias and flowering shrubs, hedge shaping, seasonal planting, soil improvement and mulching, pest and disease diagnosis, irrigation checks and regular care, plus native and wildflower garden design.
I take a plant-first approach: work is timed to what each plant needs, and every garden is treated individually. I also care about the bushland next door, which is why I offer native garden advice and the free guides on this site.

Qualifications & accreditations
- Certificate III in Horticulture

- Six years' professional experience
- Hands-on work across garden care, planting, pruning and public horticulture
- ChemCert
- Chemical use accreditation, so any herbicide or pesticide use follows the label and safe-handling rules

- Can operate a skid steer for site preparation and larger landscape jobs

How I work
Plant-first
Timing is everything. Pruning, feeding and planting are done when the plant needs them, not just when it's convenient, so you get better flowering and healthier growth.
Local knowledge
North Shore soils range from heavy clay to light sandstone sand. I match plants and soil care to your patch, and I know the local rules around trees and bushfire-prone land.
Honest advice
If a tree needs council approval or an arborist, I'll tell you. If a plant is a weed in disguise, I'll show you what to plant instead.
